Present the rule box first, modelling both forms with a simple example of your own before students begin. Exercise 1 works well as independent or pair work with clear right answers to check. Exercise 2 (Plan or Prediction?) benefits from a quick whole-class example before students continue independently, since deciding which form fits a situation takes more judgement than simple completion. Exercise 3's error-correction task works well as pair work, since discussing why a sentence is wrong reinforces the underlying rule. Exercise 4 can be done as a written task or adapted into a quick speaking warm-up.

Classroom Use

Turn Exercise 4's personal questions into a quick mingling activity: have students stand up, ask a classmate one of the questions, listen to the answer, then find a new partner and repeat with a different question.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Allow students to keep the rule box visible while completing Exercises 2 and 3, and accept simpler sentences in Exercise 2 as long as the correct form is used.
ON-LEVEL: Students complete all four exercises independently or in pairs as designed.
CHALLENGE: Ask students to write a second sentence for each situation in Exercise 2, using the other future form appropriately (for example, adding a prediction after stating a plan).

Answer Key & Assessment

Check Exercises 1 and 3 against the answer key for accuracy. Review Exercise 2 for a correctly chosen form (going to or will) matched to the situation, and review Exercise 4 for accurate, natural use of both forms rather than a single fixed answer.
