Grade 2 My Home Review Quiz

About This Resource

A one-page, 20-point cumulative assessment covering every My Home resource — room definition matching, furniture fill-in-the-blank, preposition fill-in-the-blank, and a 4-photo picture-identification section — with fresh wording throughout so it functions as a genuine assessment rather than a repeat of the practice worksheets.

Overview

This is the summative assessment for the whole My Home topic. Every sentence and definition was written fresh for this quiz rather than copied from the practice worksheets, so a student who has only memorized specific worksheet wording (rather than the underlying vocabulary and grammar) will be genuinely tested. Part D closes the quiz with real photographs, checking visual recognition one more time in the same assessment as the language-production sections.

Skills Assessed

  • Students will be able to correctly match all 6 room names to their definitions.
  • Students will be able to correctly complete 6 furniture fill-in-the-blank sentences.
  • Students will be able to correctly complete 4 preposition fill-in-the-blank sentences.
  • Students will be able to correctly identify 4 rooms/furniture items from real photographs alone.

How to Administer

  • Administer after all other My Home resources (PowerPoint, both vocabulary worksheets, the Prepositions Worksheet, and the Reading Activity) have been taught. Use independently as a formal assessment — no word banks are needed for Part A, but Parts B and C include word banks since recalling the full set unaided is a heavier load than most Grade 2 ESL quizzes should carry for the fill-in sections; Part A and D test recall/recognition without a word bank.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Provide the word bank for Part A as well (not included by default), or allow the Vocabulary PowerPoint's recap slide to stay visible during Part D only.
ON-LEVEL: Completes the quiz as written, in one sitting, independently.
CHALLENGE: For any 2 items in Part B or C, write one additional original sentence using the same word/preposition correctly.

Teacher Tips

Because this quiz deliberately avoids reusing exact worksheet sentences, a big score gap between a student's worksheet performance and their quiz performance is meaningful — it usually means the student was pattern-matching familiar sentences rather than truly knowing the vocabulary, and is worth a quick one-on-one follow-up.
