Grade 3 Weather and Seasons Grammar Worksheet: What's the Weather Like?
About This Resource
A two-page worksheet that practises the question "What's the weather like today?" and the season sentence frame "It's the ___ season" through sentence choice, sentence completion, question-answer matching, and a short reading dialogue.
Overview
This worksheet takes students from recognising the target grammar to using it in context. Activity 1 has students circle the correct sentence for a weather picture, choosing between two similar options so they have to read carefully rather than guess. Activity 2 asks them to complete season sentences with the missing word, using the picture as support. Activity 3 is a question-answer matching task covering both the weather question and the season question, and Activity 4 is a short reading passage — a conversation between Siti and Minh — followed by true-or-false comprehension questions that check whether students can follow weather and season language in connected speech rather than single sentences.

Student Task
- Use after students have met the vocabulary and the question-and-answer pattern through the Vocabulary PowerPoint and Guided Practice with the Flashcards, since this worksheet assumes the words are already familiar and focuses on the grammar around them. Students can complete Activities 1–3 independently; Activity 4 works well read aloud as a class first (with the teacher or two students taking the roles of Siti and Minh) before students answer the true-or-false questions on their own.
Classroom Use
- After finishing Activity 4, have pairs write and perform a short new dialogue of their own between two characters discussing the weather and a season, using the Siti-and-Minh conversation as a model. Two or three pairs can perform theirs for the class.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Read the Activity 4 dialogue aloud slowly as a class before students answer independently, and allow students to underline the sentence in the dialogue that answers each true-or-false question.
ON-LEVEL: Students complete all four activities independently in the suggested order.
CHALLENGE: After Activity 3, ask students to write one additional question-and-answer pair of their own about weather or seasons, using a different sentence pattern than the ones already on the page.
Answer Key & Assessment
Collect the completed worksheet and mark it against the answer key. Activity 4 is the strongest indicator of overall comprehension, since it requires understanding connected sentences rather than a single isolated sentence at a time.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to choose the correct weather sentence for a picture.
- Students will be able to complete season sentences with the correct season name.
- Students will be able to match weather and season questions to their answers.
- Students will be able to read a short weather-and-season dialogue and answer true-or-false questions about it.
Teacher Tips
Before Activity 4, ask students to predict what season it is in the dialogue based only on the first two lines, then read on to check. This turns the reading into a small "guess and check" task rather than a straight read-through, and it usually gets even quieter students to commit to an answer out loud.
