Grade 4 Daily Routines Vocabulary PowerPoint
About This Resource
A 20-slide whole-class PowerPoint introducing 12 daily routine actions (6 morning routine + 6 daily activities) with real photographs, model sentences, and a dedicated Present Simple grammar-focus slide covering the third-person "-s" rule.
Overview
This is the first ESL topic produced for Grade 4, one grade level above the existing My Home and My Clothes Grade 2 topics, so both vocabulary and grammar step up accordingly: every model sentence uses full Present Simple sentences ("He wakes up at seven o'clock") rather than isolated nouns, and a dedicated grammar slide explicitly teaches the "he/she/it + verb + s" rule before students see it used 12 times across the vocabulary slides. Real object/scene photography is used throughout (an alarm clock, a toothbrush, a closet, a school bus, and so on) rather than photos of people performing personal-care actions, both for child-privacy reasons and for consistency with the object-based photo approach already used successfully in the Grade 2 topics.

Lesson Sequence
- Present as a whole-class introduction before any worksheet in this topic. Read each model sentence aloud and have students repeat it, drawing attention to the "-s" ending on every "he/she" sentence as flagged on the Grammar Focus slide. The Recap slide works well as a quick review at the start of Day 2.
Classroom Activities
- After the Recap slide, do a quick round-robin: each student states one thing they do every morning using a full "I ___" sentence, then the class chorally converts it to "He/She ___s" for that student.
Teacher Tips
Since this topic is one grade level above My Home/My Clothes, resist the urge to skip the Grammar Focus slide even with stronger classes — the worksheets in this topic assume students have seen the "-s" rule stated explicitly, not just modeled implicitly through repeated exposure.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to name and use all 12 daily routine actions correctly.
- Students will be able to apply the third-person singular "-s" rule in the Present Simple tense.
- Students will be able to distinguish morning-routine actions from general daily activities.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Keep the Grammar Focus slide visible/printed during worksheet time.
ON-LEVEL: Proceeds through the deck as designed.
CHALLENGE: After the Quick Check slide, ask students to add a time expression and a frequency adverb to their partner's sentence (e.g., "She usually wakes up at seven o'clock").
Assessment
This is an introductory teaching resource, not an assessment. Vocabulary and grammar retention are checked in the Morning Routine Worksheet and Daily Activities Worksheet.
