Lesson Sequence

• Present this deck during Lesson 2 of the unit (see the Lesson Plan, Resource 11), pausing at each practice slide for choral or paired response. Follow with the Grammar Worksheet (Resource 4) for independent practice of the same four grammar points.

Classroom Activities

• After the Question Words slide, give pairs of students one question word each (What, Where, When, Who, Why, How) and 60 seconds to write as many grammatically correct questions as they can using that word — then share the best one with the class.

Teacher Tips

On the "Forming a Wh- Question" slide, cover the answer sentences with a sheet of paper and have students predict the answer to "Where are you from?" before revealing it — this turns a presentation slide into a brief listening-and-guessing task rather than passive viewing.

Learning Objectives

• Use the verb "to be" correctly in affirmative, negative, and question forms with all subject pronouns.
• Select the correct subject or object pronoun to replace a repeated noun in a sentence.
• Choose the correct possessive adjective or possessive pronoun to show ownership.
• Form a grammatically correct wh- question using the pattern wh-word + to be + subject.
• Apply the articles a, an, and the correctly in at least four example sentences.

Differentiation

Keep the "To Be" affirmative/negative/question tables visible on-screen (or printed) throughout independent practice that follows this lesson.
Present the deck as designed, with paired practice at each grammar point.
After the articles slide, ask advanced students to generate one original sentence for each of a, an, and the without teacher-provided examples.
