Overview

Introduce the rule box as a class, writing the two example sentences on the board and asking students to identify the base verb. Complete the first exercise together as guided practice, then let students work independently or in pairs on the remaining exercises. The case-study section at the end works well as a lead-in to the Health Advice Role-Play speaking activity, since it uses similar short scenarios.

Classroom Use

Split the class into pairs and give each pair one of the case studies from the worksheet. Pairs prepare their two pieces of advice, then perform a short "advice hotline" role-play for the class, with one student as the caller and one as the advice-giver.

Differentiation

Support: Provide the sentence frame "You should/shouldn't ___ because ___" for the case-study section, and allow students to complete only two of the three case studies.
On-Level: Students complete all four exercises as designed.
Challenge: Ask students to add a reason with "because" to every case-study sentence, or to write a third, original case study of their own to swap with a partner.

Answer Key & Assessment

Mark the fixed-answer sections (circling, completion, transformation) against the answer key. For the case-study section, check that each student produces one correct should sentence and one correct shouldn't sentence that respond sensibly to the situation described.
