Grade 2 Daily Routines Quiz

About This Resource

A short, four-section quiz (20 points) that checks Grade 2 English learners' progress on the Daily Routines topic — vocabulary matching, present simple grammar, reading comprehension, and personal writing — with a built-in score breakdown for the teacher.

Overview

This quiz brings together every skill practised across the Daily Routines collection into one short, gradeable assessment. Section A checks vocabulary recognition through picture matching. Section B checks the present simple -s rule with five fill-in-the-blank items. Section C presents a short new reading passage about a character named Arun and checks comprehension with multiple-choice questions. Section D is a brief personal writing task where students describe their own routine in two sentences. A "For Teacher Use" score breakdown table at the end makes it easy to record a section-by-section score as well as a total out of 20.

Grade 2 45-55 Minutes Quiz

Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to match daily routine vocabulary to pictures.
  • Students will be able to apply the present simple -s rule correctly for he/she/it.
  • Students will be able to answer multiple-choice questions about a short reading passage.
  • Students will be able to write two complete sentences describing their own daily routine.

How to Use This Resource

  • Give this quiz after completing the Daily Routines topic's core resources (Vocabulary PowerPoint, Flashcards, Vocabulary Worksheet, and Grammar Worksheet), as a wrap-up check of what students have learned. It is designed to take 15–20 minutes. Read the instructions for each section aloud before students begin that section, since Grade 2 English learners benefit from hearing task instructions even when they can also read them. Use the score breakdown table to record marks per section, which makes it easy to see whether a student's difficulty is with vocabulary, grammar, reading, or writing specifically.

Classroom Activity Ideas

  • Once quizzes are marked and returned, pair students who struggled with a particular section with a partner who scored well on that section for a five-minute peer-teaching activity, using the relevant Daily Routines resource (Flashcards for vocabulary, the Grammar Worksheet's reminder box for grammar) as a shared reference.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Read all instructions and the Section C passage aloud, and allow students to answer Section D with shorter sentences or a single detailed sentence instead of two.
ON-LEVEL: Students complete the quiz independently within the standard time.
CHALLENGE: Ask early finishers to write a third sentence for Section D describing a family member's routine using the correct he/she form.

Teacher Tips

Look at the score breakdown by section rather than just the total. A student who scores well on Sections A and B but poorly on Section D often needs more writing practice specifically, not more vocabulary or grammar drilling — the breakdown makes that kind of pattern easy to spot at a glance.
