Overview

This PowerPoint is designed to be the presentation stage of the topic. It opens with the day's learning objectives, then presents the 8 weather words and 4 season names as picture cards on separate slides so the two word groups stay easy to tell apart. A Key Language slide isolates the target question-and-answer pattern and the season sentence frame before a Teacher Model slide shows a full sample exchange for the teacher to read aloud or role-play. A Guided Practice slide gives two ready-made question pairs for students to try with a partner, a preview slide introduces the "Weather Reporter" speaking task before students receive the handout, and a picture-only review slide checks whether students can recall the words without the English label in front of them.

Grade 3 40-45 Minutes Weather and Seasons Vocabulary

Lesson Sequence

Project the slides during the Presentation and Guided Practice stages of the lesson (see the Weather and Seasons Lesson Plan for full timing). Pause on each vocabulary slide long enough for choral repetition before moving on. On the Teacher Model slide, read both parts of the dialogue yourself first, then invite a confident student to take the student role with you. Use the closing "Great job!" slide as a natural point to transition into the Speaking Activity or Quiz.

Classroom Activities

Before showing the Review slide, split the class into two teams. Reveal one picture at a time and give each team a turn to say the word and whether it names weather or a season, awarding a point for each correct answer. This turns the built-in review slide into a quick, low-prep team game to close the lesson.

Teacher Tips

On the Review "What Is It?" slide, the category (weather word or season name) is deliberately not labelled — resist the urge to say it out loud before students guess. Letting a few seconds of genuine thinking happen (even silence) gives stronger students a chance to self-correct before you prompt them.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Keep vocabulary slides visible for longer and allow students to answer with the picture card alone (pointing) before adding the spoken word. Pre-teach the 4 season names separately if 12 new words in one sitting is too many.
ON-LEVEL: Students follow the full slide sequence, producing complete "What's the weather like?" questions and answers by the Guided Practice slide.
CHALLENGE: During Guided Practice, have students invent a third question pair of their own using a weather word and season name not shown on the slide.

Assessment

Observe choral responses during the vocabulary and Guided Practice slides to gauge which words need more repetition. The Review slide doubles as an informal spot-check — note which pictures students hesitate on and revisit those words at the start of the next lesson.
