Grade 4 Daily Routines Unit Grading Rubric
About This Resource
A 1-page, 4-criteria analytic rubric (Accuracy, Reasoning, Completion, Communication) for scoring every open-response item across the Grade 4 Daily Routines topic, plus a "Where This Rubric Applies" reference and a 12-row whole-class tracking sheet.
Overview
Every worksheet in this topic has a fixed-answer section already scored by its own answer key — but each one also has an open-response section (Draw & Label, sequencing sentences, Challenge questions) with no single correct answer, which a standard answer key can't score consistently. This rubric fills that gap with one shared 3-point scale used the same way across every worksheet, adapted from the same rubric structure already proven on the Grade 2 My Home and My Clothes topics but with its Accuracy and Reasoning descriptors updated to reference this topic's specific grammar points (Present Simple "-s", connectors, frequency adverbs).

How to Use This Resource
- For a full open-response item (a Challenge paragraph, Draw & Label, the Daily Activities Worksheet's sequencing sentences), score all 4 criteria out of 12. For a single short item (one fill-in sentence, one drawing without a written explanation), score Accuracy + Completion only, out of 6 — Reasoning and Communication don't meaningfully apply to a one-word or one-line response. Use the Class Tracking Sheet to log scores across the unit at a glance.
Assessment
This resource IS the assessment tool for the Grade 4 Daily Routines topic's open-response work. See "Where This Rubric Applies" for exactly which section of each resource it covers. The Review Quiz's fixed-answer sections (Parts A-D) are scored with its own answer key instead.
Teacher Tips
This rubric is deliberately built to score grammar understanding, not art skill or handwriting — a plainly-labeled stick-figure drawing should score the same as a detailed one if the reasoning given is equally accurate and complete. Say this explicitly to students before the Morning Routine Worksheet's Draw & Label task so they don't over-invest time in decoration at the expense of getting the sentence and verb agreement right.
