Kindergarten ESL PowerPoint: Greetings and Introductions — Hello, Good Morning, How Are You?

Lesson Sequence

• Slides 1–8 go with Lesson 1 (chant, Mina and Ben, Hello / Goodbye, What's your name?, Name Ball). Slides 9–19 go with Lesson 2 (times of day, How are you?, feelings, Nice to meet you, Let's talk!, review, greeting choice, Goodbye Chant). Every slide has speaker notes with what to say and the answers.

Classroom Activities

• On Slides 6, 12 and 17, play in two teams: the first team to say the right greeting wins a point.
• Use Slide 18 (Choose your greeting!) every morning at the door.

Learning Objectives

• Students will be able to:
• Say Hello / Hi and Goodbye / Bye-bye at the right time.
• Choose Good morning, Good afternoon or Good night from a picture of the time of day.
• Answer "What's your name?" with "My name is ___." and ask a friend.
• Answer "How are you?" with "I'm fine, thank you." or "I'm happy / sad / tired."
• Say "Nice to meet you!" when they meet someone new.
• Trace Hello, Hi and Bye on the lines and write their own name.

Differentiation

Support: Use an action with every phrase, every time. Accept one-word answers first ("Mina.", "Happy.") and then model the full sentence for the child to repeat. Give each child a name card to copy. Pair a shy child with a confident buddy for the role play. Write the tracing words in yellow highlighter for children who need more help.

Extension: Teach "Good evening!" and "See you tomorrow!". Ask "How old are you?" – "I'm five." Let confident children lead the Hello Chant or play the teacher in Name Ball. Ask them to introduce a friend: "This is Ben."

Assessment

Slides 6, 12 and 17 are quick checks — answers are in the speaker notes. Use the Quick Quiz after Lesson 2.
