Grade 2 My Home Flashcards
About This Resource
12 print-and-cut flashcards covering all six rooms and six furniture items from the My Home topic. Each card shows a large real photograph on the question side; the matching answer side (same grid position, for double-sided printing) shows the word.
Overview
These flashcards give teachers a fast, flexible review tool for the whole My Home topic in one set. The question side shows only a large real photograph — no word, no icon — so students must produce the vocabulary from memory. The answer side reveals the word in the same grid position. Because every image is a genuine, large photograph rather than a small icon, the cards work as a stronger recognition test than icon-based flashcards would.

How to Present
- Print both pages, cut along the dashed lines, and either: (1) hold up a question card and have the class call out the word before you reveal the matching answer card, (2) mix all 24 half-cards face-down for a memory-matching game where students pair each photo with its word, or (3) place the set in a center for independent quiz-and-check practice.
Games & Speaking Activities
- Speed round: split the class into two teams, flip through the 12 question cards one at a time, and give a point to the first team to correctly name the room or furniture item. Use the answer card to confirm immediately after each round.
Teacher Tips
Because rooms and furniture are mixed together in this set (rather than split into two separate decks), use it after both the Rooms and Furniture Worksheets have been completed — mixing the two categories is a genuine test of whether students have the whole topic's vocabulary secure, not just one half of it.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to name all 6 rooms and 6 furniture items from a real photograph alone, with no text or icon cue.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Play with the answer sides visible as a matching (not recall) task, or use only 6 cards (either all rooms or all furniture) at a time.
ON-LEVEL: Plays the full 12-card mixed set from memory before checking answers.
CHALLENGE: After a correct answer, challenge the student to use the word in one full sentence (e.g. "This is a sofa. We sit on the sofa.").
