Grade 2 Weather and Seasons Activity Pack: Spinner, Bingo, and Riddle Cards
About This Resource
Three hands-on, low-prep games in one 3-page pack: a cut-and-spin Weather Spinner speaking game, a 16-square Weather and Seasons Bingo board, and a set of 4 Guess My Season riddle cards.
Overview
This pack brings three different game formats to the same 12-word vocabulary set so review never feels repetitive. The Weather Spinner turns vocabulary review into a speaking game where students build a full sentence every turn. The Bingo board mixes all 8 weather words and 4 seasons plus 3 bonus squares for a whole-class listening review. The Guess My Season riddle cards give partners a short, self-contained speaking and reasoning task using the same clue style from the worksheets.

How to Play
- Use the spinner as a partner speaking warm-up, the bingo board as a whole-class listening review (call out words yourself, or let a confident student call), and the riddle cards as a quick partner or small-group activity. All three can be used independently or across different points in the unit.
Variations
- Run all three games as stations: split the class into three small groups and rotate every 8-10 minutes so every student plays every game in one lesson.
Teacher Tips
For the spinner, model the sentence pattern (“It is ___ today!”) once yourself before handing it to partners — this keeps the speaking practice focused rather than just naming the word.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to produce a full spoken sentence for a randomly selected weather word.
- Students will be able to recognize weather and season words by ear during a listening game.
- Students will be able to reason through a multi-clue riddle to name the correct season.
Differentiation
Support: For the spinner, allow students to look at the Weather Vocabulary Worksheet's word bank while they speak. For bingo, read each word twice before moving to the next.
On-Level: Use all three games as designed, rotating through them across the unit.
Challenge: For the riddle cards, ask students to write one original riddle of their own for a weather word and add it to the set.
Assessment
Circulate during the spinner and riddle card activities and listen for complete sentences and correct reasoning rather than single-word answers; use the bingo round as an informal listening check.
