Grade 4 The Water Cycle Vocabulary and Concepts PowerPoint
About This Resource
A 13-slide teaching presentation that introduces the water cycle stage by stage, with a dedicated slide connecting the whole topic to the rainy and dry seasons found across most of Southeast Asia. Designed to carry a full Grade 4 lesson from learning objectives through to a review and exit question.
Overview
The deck opens with a title slide and learning objectives, then introduces the water cycle as a whole before giving each of the four stages — evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection — its own "closer look" slide with a short regional note (quick evaporation on hot days, clouds building over hills, rainy-season rivers and rice fields). A Quick Check discussion slide checks understanding partway through, a dedicated Regional Connection slide ties the whole topic to wet and dry seasons, a Real Life slide grounds the concepts in everyday sights, and the deck closes with guided practice tied to the Mini Water Cycle in a Bag activity and a review/exit question.

Lesson Sequence
- Use the deck to guide the main teaching portion of the Water Cycle lesson, following the Lesson Plan's sequence. Pause at the Quick Check slide for pair discussion before revealing or discussing the answers as a class, and use the Regional Connection and Real Life slides to prompt students to share their own local observations of rain and dry weather. The final slide's exit question works well as a quick written or verbal check before moving on to independent practice.
Classroom Activities
- Pause after the "Where Do We See This Around Us?" slide and have students work in pairs to think of one more real-life example from their own town or village for each of the three pictured examples, then share with the class.
Teacher Tips
Before showing the Regional Connection slide, ask students to describe what they notice about local rivers or fields during the rainy season compared to the dry season — their own answers make the slide's content land more clearly than simply reading it to them.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to name and describe the four main stages of the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection.
- Students will be able to explain the role of the sun in driving the water cycle.
- Students will be able to describe how the water cycle connects to wet and dry seasons in their own region.
- Students will be able to give real-life examples of evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection.
Differentiation
Support: Pause on vocabulary-heavy slides to review key words aloud, and allow students to answer discussion questions with a partner before sharing with the whole class.
On-level: Students follow the deck's sequence, participating in the Quick Check and Real Life discussions and completing the guided practice slide as directed.
Challenge: Ask students to predict, before the Regional Connection slide is shown, how they think the water cycle changes between the rainy and dry seasons, then compare their prediction to the slide's content.
Assessment
Use the Quick Check slide as an informal, low-stakes check partway through the lesson, and the exit question on the final slide as a quick formative check at the end. For a more formal check, follow up with the Water Cycle Quiz.
