Greetings and Introductions — Vocabulary PowerPoint

About This Resource

A 17-slide whole-class lesson (PPTX + PDF) covering all ten unit greetings with a warm-up, one slide per word, a full review grid, a chant, and a preview of the speaking activity.

Overview

This is the main teaching slide deck for the unit. After a title slide and a short warm-up guessing game, each of the ten greetings gets its own two-panel slide pairing the picture with a model sentence, a listen-and-point prompt, and a short practice task. The deck closes with a ten-item review grid, a call-and-response chant that walks through a full greeting exchange, and a preview slide for Resource 6 (Nice to Meet You Speaking Activity).

Lesson Sequence

  • Project the slides for whole-class instruction.
  • Use the warm-up slide to activate prior knowledge before teaching new words.
  • Go through each greeting slide, having students repeat the sentence with a partner.
  • Close with the review grid and chant, then preview the speaking activity.

Classroom Activities

  • After the review grid slide, hold up picture flashcards one at a time and have the whole class call out the matching greeting as a quick, high-energy check of recall.

Teacher Tips

Have the whole class turn to a neighbor and say each greeting sentence aloud during its slide rather than only repeating after the teacher — greetings are inherently social, so practicing them with a real partner from the very first lesson builds the habit early.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to say a complete sentence for each of the ten greetings and introductions and recall all ten in the review grid.

Differentiation

Support: pause after each greeting slide for extra choral repetition before moving on, and keep the pace to no more than three or four new greetings per session.

Extension: ask fast finishers to extend a greeting slide's dialogue with one more line of their own.

What's Included
