Kindergarten ESL Flashcards: All About Me (Family, Feelings and Body Parts)

About This Resource

A set of 18 print-ready flashcards covering the three vocabulary groups in the All About Me topic — family (Mom, Dad, sister, brother, baby, grandma, grandpa), feelings (happy, sad, excited, tired), and body parts (head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, feet). Overview

Print on card stock if possible and cut along the dashed lines. Use the cards during vocabulary introduction (hold up one card at a time and say the word twice), for guided practice (students take turns holding a card and completing "This is my ___"), and for quick review games such as flash-and-say or a simple matching game on the floor. The cards are also referenced directly in the All About Me Lesson Plan and Vocabulary PowerPoint.

Games & Speaking Activities

Memory Match: lay 8–10 cards face down in a grid (use two copies of a smaller subset so every card has a pair). In pairs, students flip two cards and say the word(s) shown; a match means they keep the pair and go again.

Teacher Tips

Laminate one class set and keep a second, unlaminated set for cutting into a matching or memory game — having two sets means the "reference" cards on the board never have to be borrowed for a game.

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to name each family member shown on a flashcard.
Students will be able to identify the four feelings words when shown the matching face.
Students will be able to point to and name each body part shown.
Students will be able to sort or group cards by category (family / feelings / body) with support.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Start with a smaller set (5–6 cards) and add more once those are secure; allow a student to point to the matching object or person in the room instead of saying the word aloud.
ON-LEVEL: Use the full 18-card set for vocabulary introduction and review games.
CHALLENGE: Ask the student to use the word in a full sentence ("This is my grandma") rather than naming it alone, or to sort the full set into the three categories independently.

Assessment

Use flashcard responses as part of the Vocabulary Recognition criterion on the All About Me Grading Rubric — hold up a card and note whether the student names it independently, needs a prompt, or does not yet recognise it.
