My Body — Vocabulary & Action Pack

Learning Objectives

• Identify and label ten basic body-part words: head, shoulders, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, hands, legs, feet.
• Follow simple Total Physical Response (TPR) instructions using body-part vocabulary, e.g. "Touch your nose."
• Use the pattern "I have two ___." / "I have one ___." correctly for singular and plural body parts.

How to Use This Resource

• Presentation (8 min): Point to each body part on yourself and say the word clearly. Students repeat chorally, touching the same body part on themselves.
• TPR Practice (10 min): Play "Simon Says" using only body-part commands ("Simon says touch your ears."). This checks listening comprehension without requiring students to speak yet.
• Counting language (7 min): Introduce "I have two eyes." and "I have one nose." Go around the room eliciting the pattern for different body parts.
• Production (10 min): Hand out the worksheet. Students label the body diagram and complete the sentence practice.
• Wrap-up (5 min): One more round of Simon Says, this time with a student giving the commands.

Classroom Activity Ideas

• Stand up and say "Touch your head!" Do the action yourself so students can copy even before they know the word. Repeat with 2-3 body parts students likely already know.

Differentiation

Beginners: focus on TPR only (listening and pointing), skip the counting-language sentences. Advanced students: extend with "I have ten fingers." / "I have ten toes."

Assessment

Observe accuracy during Simon Says (listening) and check the completed worksheet diagram labels and sentence practice (speaking/writing transfer).

Teacher Tips

Keep TPR games fast-paced — young learners lose interest if the same game runs too long. Mix in a couple of "silly" wrong commands once vocabulary is solid, e.g. "Touch your elbow with your nose!" for a laugh and extra listening challenge.
