Numbers — Unit Quiz / Assessment
About This Resource
A five-part, 12-item cumulative quiz sampling across the full 1-20 range — number word writing, picture-word circling, is/are grammar, true/false passage recall, and a counting question — with a full answer key and a built-in score box.
Overview
This quiz is the unit's summative assessment, drawing together every skill practiced across the collection without re-testing all 20 numbers individually. It samples a representative spread: writing the number word for four pictures spanning the range, circling the correct word for three more (including a teen-number vs. "-ty" pair to test that classic ESL confusion), filling in is or are for two picture groups, judging two true/false statements from "Ben's Counting Day," and one closing counting question about the story. A "Score: ___ / 12" box at the top makes it easy for teachers to record results at a glance.

Learning Objectives
- Students will demonstrate cumulative mastery of number vocabulary, number grammar (is/are, singular/plural), and comprehension of the unit's original reading passage, sampled across a representative span of the number set.
How to Use This Resource
- Administer near the end of the unit, once all 20 numbers have been taught, typically as the final activity of the pacing plan.
- Read the instructions for each part aloud before students begin that section.
- Allow students to work independently.
- Grade using the included answer key and record the score in the score box.
Differentiation
Support: read each quiz item aloud individually, or reduce Part 1's writing items to circling instead of writing.
Extension: have early finishers write one additional sentence counting an object for each number tested in Part 2.
Assessment
This resource is itself the unit's summative assessment; use the 12-point score to gauge overall unit mastery and identify students who may need additional number-vocabulary or grammar support before moving to a new topic.
Teacher Tips
Read each part's instructions aloud one section at a time rather than all at once at the start — at this age, students retain multi-step directions much better when they're given right before that section begins.
