Grade 3 Multiplication Facts Flashcards
About This Resource
A set of 12 print-ready flashcards for practising multiplication facts, spanning the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10 times tables. Eight cards include a supporting array image and four are pure recall cards for larger facts, with a separate answer key for quick checking during drills.
Overview
These flashcards give students a quick, repeatable way to build fact fluency after the main array concept has been taught. The first eight cards pair a small array image (a mix of dot arrays and everyday object icons) with the multiplication sentence, giving students a visual anchor while they're still building recall speed. The final four cards drop the image and show only the equation, matching the level of automaticity Grade 3 students are expected to reach with facts at this stage. Two cards per page print at a generous size, ready to be cut apart and used individually.

How to Present
- Print the flashcard pages and cut along the card borders to create a set of 12 individual cards. Use them for quick whole-class recall rounds (hold up a card, class answers chorally), paired quizzing (one student holds the card, the other answers, then checks against the answer key), or as a rotating independent practice station. Because the first eight cards include a supporting array, they also work well as a quick review of the array concept itself before moving into pure fact recall with the last four cards.
Games & Speaking Activities
- Set up a peer-quizzing station where students work in pairs: one student shows a card, the other answers within a set time (try five seconds), and they swap roles after going through the deck. Keep the answer key at the station so students can self-check without needing the teacher.
Teacher Tips
Shuffle the cards between uses rather than always practising them in the same order — students can memorise a sequence of answers without actually recalling each fact independently if the order never changes.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to recall multiplication facts across the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10 times tables.
- Students will be able to connect a multiplication fact to its matching array where one is shown.
- Students will be able to solve a multiplication fact from the equation alone, without a visual support.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Start with only the eight array-supported cards, and allow students to use counters to build the array shown if they're not yet ready to answer from the picture alone.
ON-LEVEL: Students work through the full set of 12 cards, using the array cards as a visual check and the final four as pure recall practice.
CHALLENGE: Time students on how quickly they can answer all 12 cards correctly, and challenge them to beat their own previous time in a later round.
Assessment
Use informal observation during a flashcard drill to note which facts a student answers quickly and which ones they need to work out. The included answer key supports quick self- or peer-checking during paired practice.
