Use this worksheet during the Production stage of the Lesson Plan, after students have practised building and reading arrays. Model the first word problem together on the board, showing how to turn the words into an array before writing the multiplication sentence, since this translation step is often the hardest part for students at this stage. Students then work through the remaining problems independently or in pairs, drawing each array in the space provided. The Challenge Problem at the end is intended for students who finish early or are ready for a bit more thinking.

Classroom Use

After completing the worksheet, have students choose one problem and act it out as a short skit or drawing for the class — for example, physically arranging themselves into the minibus seating rows, or arranging counters to represent the mangoes on the tray. Differentiation
