Grade 9 Personal Identity Activity Pack: Bingo, Two Truths, and Riddle Cards
About This Resource
Three hands-on, low-prep games in one 3-page pack: a 16-square Identity Bingo board, a Two Truths and an Identity speaking-and-writing game, and a set of 4 Guess My Trait riddle cards.
Overview
This pack brings three different game formats to the same trait vocabulary so review never feels repetitive. Identity Bingo mixes all 12 trait words plus 4 bonus squares for a whole-class listening review. Two Truths and an Identity turns the topic itself into a personal, social speaking-and-writing game with built-in discussion questions and a self-check. The Guess My Trait riddle cards give partners a short, self-contained speaking and reasoning task, with an extension where students write their own riddles.

How to Play
- Use the bingo board as a whole-class listening review, Two Truths and an Identity as a partner or small-group speaking activity, and the riddle cards as a quick partner activity. All three can be used independently or across different points in the unit.
Variations
- Run all three games as stations: split the class into three small groups and rotate every 8-10 minutes so every student plays every game in one lesson.
Teacher Tips
For Two Truths and an Identity, model your own three statements first (including a believable false one) — seeing a real example makes the game far less intimidating for students to try themselves.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to recognize personality-trait words by ear during a listening game.
- Students will be able to write and speak true and false statements about their own identity.
- Students will be able to reason through a multi-clue riddle to name the correct trait.
Differentiation
Support: For bingo, read each word twice before moving to the next. For Two Truths, allow students to write their statements with a partner before sharing them aloud.
On-Level: Use all three games as designed, rotating through them across the unit.
Challenge: For the riddle cards, ask students to write two original riddles of their own for a trait word and add them to the set.
Assessment
Circulate during Two Truths and the riddle card activity and listen for complete sentences and correct reasoning rather than single-word answers; use the bingo round as an informal listening check.
