A hands-on counting activity with two tasks — Count and Write, and Count and Circle — covering the full 1-20 range, using counted-object pictures and a full answer key.
This is the unit's dedicated hands-on practice, giving students focused, repeated one-to-one counting rather than reading or writing sentences. Count and Write shows 10 groups of objects (spanning the full range up to 20) for students to count and record the numeral. Count and Circle shows 6 more groups, each with three close numeral choices to test careful counting rather than guessing.

Extension: have students write the number word, not just the numeral, beside each Count and Write answer.

Encourage students to touch or point to each object as they count rather than counting by sight alone — physical one-to-one correspondence is what prevents the double-counting and skipping errors that are common at this age, especially once groups pass ten objects.
