Classroom Objects — Vocabulary Matching Worksheet
About This Resource
A one-page picture-to-word matching worksheet covering all ten classroom object words, with a scrambled word bank and a complete, verified answer key.
Overview
Students look at ten numbered pictures and write the matching letter from a scrambled word bank underneath. This gives independent, self-checkable practice with the same ten words taught in Resources 1 and 2, in a format different from flashcards or slides so students meet the vocabulary in a new context. The word bank order is deliberately scrambled so students must read and match rather than guess by position.

Student Task
- Review the ten words together before handing out the worksheet, if this is students' first independent practice.
- Have students complete the matching individually or in pairs.
- Check answers as a class or using the included answer key.
- Keep completed sheets as a quick record of which words each student has mastered.
Classroom Use
- Turn it into a race: call out a picture number, and the first student to correctly say (not write) the matching word bank letter earns a point for their team.
Differentiation
Support: let students work with a partner or use their Resource 1 flashcards as a reference while matching. Extension: have early finishers write a full sentence ("It is a ruler.") for three of the ten items on the back of the page.
Answer Key & Assessment
Collect and check completed worksheets against the answer key; a score of 8/10 or higher indicates the student is ready to move on to the grammar and speaking activities.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to read each of the ten target words.
- Students will be able to match a picture of a classroom object to its written name.
Teacher Tips
Read all ten word-bank options aloud once before students start writing — hearing the words spoken, not just seeing them printed, helps pre-readers narrow down their choices by sound as well as sight.
