Grade 2 Daily Routines Vocabulary Worksheet
About This Resource
A two-page vocabulary worksheet that gives Grade 2 English learners four varied ways to practise 12 daily routine words: picture matching, fill-in-the-blank sentences, sequencing a school-day routine, and a personal draw-and-label task, finished with a simple self-check.
Overview
This worksheet moves students from recognising daily routine vocabulary to using it in complete sentences. Activity 1 (Look and Match) checks that students can connect each icon to its word using a lettered word box. Activity 2 (Fill in the Blanks) asks students to choose the correct routine phrase from a word bank to complete six short sentences about different children's days. Activity 3 (Put My Day in Order) practises logical sequencing by having students number four routine pictures 1 to 4. Activity 4 (Draw and Label My Day) is a personal, open-ended task where students draw two of their own daily routines and write a simple sentence for each — giving the teacher a quick window into what vocabulary has really stuck. A Self-Check star chart closes the worksheet so students reflect on their own progress.

Student Task
- Hand out after the vocabulary has been introduced with the Daily Routines Vocabulary PowerPoint and Flashcards. Complete Activity 1 together as a class first (as suggested in the companion Lesson Plan) to confirm students understand the matching format, then let students complete Activities 2 and 3 independently or in pairs. Activity 4 works well as an early-finisher task or as homework, since students can take their time drawing. Use the Self-Check section as a quick informal reflection before collecting the worksheets.
Classroom Use
- Turn Activity 3 into a movement activity before students write anything: print or display the four sequencing pictures around the room, and have students physically walk to each one in the order they think is correct, saying the matching sentence aloud as they go. Then have them return to their seats to complete the written version.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Allow students to say the matching answers aloud to a partner or teacher before writing, and reduce Activity 2 to the first three sentences if six is overwhelming. Keep the Vocabulary PowerPoint or Flashcards visible for reference.
ON-LEVEL: Students complete all four activities independently within a normal lesson period.
CHALLENGE: Ask students to write one extra sentence of their own for Activity 2 using a routine word not already used, or to add a third drawing to Activity 4.
Answer Key & Assessment
Collect the completed worksheet and use the answer key to check Activities 1–3. Review Activity 4 for correct use of the target sentence structure ("I ___.") rather than for spelling perfection, since this is a first attempt at independent writing on the topic.
Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to match 6 daily routine pictures to their written words.
- Students will be able to complete sentences about a daily routine using a word bank.
- Students will be able to sequence four daily routine events in a logical order.
- Students will be able to describe two of their own daily routines in a simple written sentence.
Teacher Tips
Read the six Fill in the Blanks sentences aloud before students begin, even though the words are provided in a word bank. Hearing the full sentence helps English learners predict which word fits by meaning, not just by matching letters on the page.
