Overview

This PowerPoint opens the Grade 2 My Clothes topic with real, full-size photographs rather than icons, so students see what each clothing item actually looks like before using the words themselves. Each vocabulary slide follows the same simple pattern: a large photo, the word, and one short model sentence using present continuous "wearing" with a color adjective (e.g. "I am wearing a gray shirt."). Lesson Sequence

Project the PowerPoint as the opening lesson of the My Clothes topic. Read each model sentence aloud and have students repeat it chorally before moving to the next word. Pause after the Tops & Bottoms section and again after Outerwear & Accessories to do a quick round of "point to something in the photo" comprehension checks. Use the Quick Check slide for a 1-2 minute partner-talk before moving to the vocabulary worksheets.

Classroom Activities

After the Quick Check slide, do a "clothes scavenger hunt" for early finishers: give students 2 minutes to whisper to a partner the names of as many clothing items as they can remember from the deck, without looking back at the slides.

Teacher Tips

Because every image is a real photograph rather than an icon, use them for a quick "same or different" comparison with what students are actually wearing that day — e.g. "Is your shirt the same color as this one?" This is a fast, low-prep way to check comprehension beyond rote repetition, and it naturally previews the "What Are You Wearing?" grammar worksheet that follows this topic's vocabulary worksheets.
