My, Your, His, Her: Possessive Adjectives

About This Resource

A free Grade 4 ESL grammar worksheet pack on possessive adjectives: my, your, his, her, its, our and their, matching them to subject pronouns, choosing his or her, and its versus it's. Includes a timed lesson plan, worksheet, editable Word version and answer key.

Overview

Children learn the seven possessive adjectives and how they show who something belongs to. They match each subject pronoun to its possessive adjective (I → my, they → their), choose between his and her, complete sentences about families and classrooms, spot the difference between its and it's, and write sentences about their own family and belongings.

Differentiation

Support: keep the pronoun chart on the desk and focus on my, your, his and her. Challenge: add possessive pronouns such as mine, yours and theirs.

Answer Key & Assessment

Activities 1 to 4 check form and meaning (answer key included). Activity 5 checks use in writing.

Learning Objectives

  • Match subject pronouns to possessive adjectives (I → my, we → our).
  • Choose the correct possessive adjective in a sentence, including his and her.
