How to Present

• Print both pages double-sided (or print separately and pair by grid position) and cut along the dashed lines. Use for vocabulary drilling, a memory-matching game, or a pairing game where students match each animal card to its correct habitat card.

Games & Speaking Activities

• Pairing game: shuffle all 12 cards face-down, then have students take turns flipping two cards at a time trying to match an animal to its correct habitat (not just any two matching cards, but the CORRECT animal-habitat pair).

Teacher Tips

Because habitats and animals are mixed in one deck, a "sort into two piles" warm-up (habitats vs. animals) is a quick, low-stakes way to check whether students can tell the two categories apart before moving to a pairing game.

Learning Objectives

• Students will be able to recall all 12 habitat and animal terms from a photo prompt alone.
• Students will be able to correctly pair each animal card with its matching habitat card.

Differentiation

SUPPORT: Use only the 6 habitat cards until they are secure, then introduce the 6 animal cards separately before mixing.
ON-LEVEL: Uses the full 12-card mixed deck as designed.
CHALLENGE: For each animal card drawn, name one adaptation that helps it survive in its habitat, not just the habitat's name.
