Grade 2 Plants and How They Grow Review Quiz
About This Resource
An 8-question review quiz covering the whole Plants and How They Grow topic, mixing multiple choice, true or false, diagram labeling, and a short life-cycle ordering question. Designed as a short, end-of-topic check rather than a single-activity quiz.
Overview
This quiz pulls together everything covered across the topic collection: Section A checks plant parts and needs through multiple choice, Section B checks quick recall with true-or-false statements, Section C returns to the plant diagram used in the Labeling Worksheet so students demonstrate they can label it without the earlier scaffolding, and Section D asks students to put three life-cycle words in the correct order. Four question formats in one short quiz keep it from feeling repetitive while still giving a clear picture of what each student has retained.

Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to identify plant parts and what plants need to grow.
- Students will be able to evaluate true and false statements about plants.
- Students will be able to label a diagram of a plant without a word bank providing extra support beyond the word list.
- Students will be able to put life-cycle vocabulary in the correct order.
How to Use This Resource
- Give this quiz after completing some or all of the other resources in this collection, as a short end-of-topic check rather than a daily worksheet. Allow about 15–20 minutes. Read the instructions for each section aloud before students begin, since the format changes partway through the quiz.
Classroom Activity Ideas
- Quiz Review Circle: after returning the graded quiz, sit in a circle and go question by question, having a different student explain the correct answer in their own words each time — this turns quiz feedback into one more round of vocabulary practice.
Differentiation
SUPPORT: Provide the word bank for Section C even though it is not printed on the standard version, and allow students to answer Section D with picture cards instead of writing.
ON-LEVEL: Complete the quiz independently as printed.
CHALLENGE: For Section D, write one sentence explaining what happens between each pair of stages in the life-cycle order.
Assessment
Score the quiz against the answer key. Use performance patterns across sections (for example, strong on vocabulary but weak on sequencing) to decide whether to revisit the Sequencing Worksheet or the Vocabulary PowerPoint before moving to a new topic.
Teacher Tips
Read through Section C with the whole class first, confirming students understand they should write words rather than draw, before releasing them to complete the rest of the quiz independently — this section tends to cause the most confusion if introduced silently.
