My Body — Body Parts Vocabulary PowerPoint

About This Resource

A 26-slide PPTX/PDF lesson deck that introduces all ten Body Parts vocabulary words through a TPR warm-up, guided practice, a chant, and a Simon Says preview.

Overview

This slide deck is designed as the anchor lesson for the Body Parts unit. It opens with a warm-up that gets students moving, then walks through each of the ten target words one at a time with a picture, a model sentence ("This is my head."), a listen-and-point prompt, and a partner-practice prompt. The deck closes with a full-body recap slide, an original chant, and a preview of the Simon Says game, so the lesson flows naturally into the rest of the unit's activities.

Grade 1 43-55 Minutes Vocabulary Speaking

Lesson Sequence

  • Project the deck for whole-class instruction.
  • Follow the warm-up slide's TPR actions as a class before starting new vocabulary.
  • Move through the ten vocabulary slides one at a time, having students repeat the sentence and complete the listen-and-point and practice prompts.
  • Use the recap slide and chant to review, then preview the Simon Says game as a transition to Resource 7.

Classroom Activities

  • After the recap slide, do a quick "teacher says, class points" round using all ten words in random order to check whole-class recall before moving to independent work.

Teacher Tips

Pause after every vocabulary slide and have students echo the sentence three times before moving on — the repetition matters more than covering all ten words quickly.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to name ten body parts in English, use the sentence frame "This is my ___," and respond physically to simple oral directions.

Differentiation

Slow down and repeat each vocabulary slide twice; allow students to respond by pointing rather than speaking.
Ask advanced students to extend the model sentence (e.g., "This is my head. My head is round.").

Assessment

Informal — monitor whether students respond correctly and quickly to the listen-and-point prompts throughout the lesson.
